I would like to praise the hard work that Toby & Margarito have done. It definitely evokes feelings of nostalgia to see the meticulous work they do, as well as the tidiness and cleanliness whenever they are finished. It’s refreshing to see people still taking pride in their work.

Pre-emergent mixtures will be applied to prevent any weeds that may have been dormant all winter, and post-emergent weed control will be applied to any areas where weeds currently exist. Applying treatments this early in the season is a great way to nip weeds in the bud!

Our focus at this step will still be on weed control, as this is the time of year when weeds typically begin to pop up in lawns. Dandelions, crabgrass, chickweed, clovers, and other types of weeds are all common in Louisiana and will be treated appropriately. We also apply potash at this time to stimulate root development. Fungicides and pest control may also be beneficial.

This is the first visit that will focus on fertilizing your turf. Depending on the needs of your lawn, we will utilize either a granular or liquid fertilizer that is specifically designed to enhance and improve the color of your lawn. Weed control efforts continue through this visit.

The majority of our attention at this stage will be on fertilizing your lawn. By now, your lawn should be starting to look green and lush, and our early summer fertilization treatments will help preserve that appearance by working to improve the root system in the soil.

Any weeds that may have emerged since our last visit will be spot treated, and similar fertilization efforts from the previous visit will continue. It is our goal to have the health and appearance of your lawn at its peak by this point.

With fall right around the corner, our focus at this step will shift back to preventive weed control. We want to ensure that your turf is prepared to survive through autumn and winter, which means making sure your lawn is as weed-free as possible. Pre-emergent weed killers will be used, as well as any necessary spot treatments.

Similar to our late summer treatment, we will apply a pre-emergent to help sustain your lawn through winter. Post-emergents will be used if necessary, but many weeds will begin to go dormant at this stage.

At our final visit of the year, we will apply a pre-emergent that is designed to fortify your lawn’s root system and deter any weed seedlings from germinating between this visit and the first visit of the following spring. Fungicides are recommended during this visit to prevent lawn diseases during winter.

We Know Louisiana Lawns

Your lawn will benefit in more ways than one when you sign up for the best fertilization and weed control services in Louisiana! Under the name of our subsidiary fertilization company, Turf Defense, we service customers in the Lafayette and Baton Rouge areas with exceptional fertilization and weed control treatments that will give you results you can see and feel. Our strategically planned program will give your lawn greener and thicker grass that will last all year!

Importance Of Fertilizing

Fertilizing your turf is one of the best ways to improve the health and appearance of your lawn. When fertilizer is applied to your lawn, the nutrition in the fertilizer gets absorbed into the roots to promote strong and green grass. Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are key nutrients that your lawn craves, and that’s exactly what we will feed it. Without fertilizer treatments, your lawn may lack much of the nutrition it requires, causing it to appear thin or bare.

Importance Of Weed Control

Removing and controlling weeds in your lawn should always be performed in conjunction with fertilization. Weeds survive by absorbing the same nutrients that your lawn needs in order to stay healthy and grow properly. If weeds are allowed to overtake areas of your lawn, they will steal all the nutrition found in fertilizers, and your lawn will start becoming damaged due to a lack of nutrients. Removing/preventing weeds will always result in healthier turf.

Our Fertilization & Weed Control Program

The benefits of fertilizing and preventing weeds are much more than simple cosmetic effects. Not being able to keep your grass looking green can create an eyesore on your property, but this issue can easily lead to much more harmful problems if it is not addressed immediately. Nutrient deficient lawns are especially susceptible to lawn disease, pest infestation, drought/heat stress, and more. Our program will help defend your lawn against all of these ailments, and, of course, get your grass looking lush and impressive!

Our program is an 8-step plan, which includes 8 visits throughout the year that help ensure the longevity of your lawn’s color and thickness. See below for a brief description of when and how we will treat your lawn.

Remember, any fertilization treatment your lawn can receive is only as good as the aftercare provided to it. Watering must be performed on a regular and consistent schedule in order to see the best fertilization and weed control results. Ask us how we can help with irrigation and watering after fertilization treatments are applied!
